Morton Grove approves purchase of Genesis vehicle extrication equipment for new rescue squad engine

Trustee Mink presented background stating the fire department uses hydraulic rescue tools for vehicle extrication and that Genesis was selected following a 2019 evaluation for reasons including reliability and compatibility with existing inventory. Trustee Mink said the equipment will equip the rescue squad engine anticipated for delivery in early 2026 and noted the village received a grant that will be used for the purchase. Equipment Management Company is the region’s sole-source dealer for Genesis equipment and was awarded a contract through the Houston-Galveston Area Council cooperative purchasing agreement effective through Oct. 31, 2028, according to the presentation.
Trustee Mink moved to approve Resolution 25-51; Trustee Phil seconded. The board voted 6-0 to approve the resolution. The resolution authorizes staff to execute the identified purchase; no contract amount was read into the record during the presentation. The village did not record additional conditions or amendments to the authorization during the meeting.
