County staff asked the board to authorize signatures on an amended purchase agreement and execute related budget amendments so closing could occur by year-end and the county could seek tax-exempt classification for the property for the 2026 payable tax year. The packet included an amended purchase agreement reflecting the reduced purchase price of $25,000.
Commissioner Shane moved to complete the purchase actions; Commissioner Holland seconded. The motion passed 4–1.
Staff said existing lease agreements on the property will be assigned to Wright County. The federal lease (USDA) will be assigned and the first federal payment is expected in July because the federal government pays one month after a lease begins. A lease to the Soil and Water district will continue under the county’s ownership and will be reimbursed through state grant funding, staff said. The board did not provide dollar figures for the purchase beyond the $25,000 reduced price in the packet.
