Town of Brookline officials announced a preliminary three‑year contract with the firefighters’ union covering fiscal years 2025 through 2027, but said the agreement remains subject to ratification by the union membership and final approval at Town Meeting.
The town administrator told the Select Board the negotiating teams on both sides reached a tentative deal after private bargaining. The town acknowledged contributions from Chief Don Sullivan, Director of Human Resources Anne Braga, and members of the town negotiating team and thanked the union leadership, including President Robinson, for negotiating in good faith.
The administrator said the agreement will be presented for union membership approval and will come before Town Meeting at its November session for final action. No vote on the contract was taken at the Select Board meeting; town officials called the outcome a preliminary deal pending the two approvals.
Town officials characterized the negotiations as intensive and said both sides had engaged in “productive discussions” despite “fervent” disagreements during bargaining. The Select Board and town staff said they will provide additional details to the public after the membership and Town Meeting processes proceed.
