Hueneme board approves 2024–25 LCAP after county-requested metric corrections

The Hueneme Elementary School District governing board on Tuesday approved the district's 2024'25 Local Control and Accountability Plan, including annual updates, the district's 2025'26 budget and federal addendum, after staff reported a minor county-requested correction to metric displays.
The plan is the district's primary accountability document and will be filed with the Ventura County Superintendent of Schools within five days of the meeting, staff said.
Associate Supervisor, Student Services (name not specified) told the board the county review found only one technical correction: the district should show current-minus-baseline differences by simple subtraction in the final column of each metric. "The only changes to the plan that the county had, as a correction since the public hearing on 06/14/2024 are specifically revisions to the current difference from baseline for all the metrics," the staff member said. "They've asked that we compare the baseline to the current and simple subtraction and update that column."
The staff member described professional learning and instructional tools as central to the district's strategy for improving student outcomes, particularly in science. "We are moving towards an updated version of mClass for sixth, seventh, and eighth, in response to...the needle was not moving," the staff member said. They emphasized ongoing work with the LCAP committee and monthly review of data to guide interventions.
A motion to approve the LCAP passed by roll call. Board members recorded in the roll call included Mrs. Bruno, Ms. Gomez, Ms. Sampalvo and Dr. Wiese; staff said the approved plan will be the final version filed with the county.
The plan includes the district's strategies, budget alignment and local indicators; staff said routine updates will continue as the district collects screening and assessment data later this year.
