Uintah County victim advocate reports 405 clients served and more than 3,000 services provided year-to-date

Angie, a victim advocate with the Uintah County Attorney’s Office, told the commission on June 24 that the office had served 405 victims year-to-date and provided more than 3,000 services to those clients, most frequently for assault, domestic violence, identity theft and child abuse.
Angie described services the office provides: notifying victims of court hearings, referring them to other local resources, assisting with protective orders, accompanying victims to court and meetings with prosecutors, and providing emotional support. She said the office has been able to provide gas and food gift cards for victims using community donations amid statewide grant reductions.
The advocate told commissioners she expected a grant presentation to be finalized within one to two weeks and asked staff to coordinate a future presentation; a county official said they would schedule the item when the advocate is ready. Commissioners publicly praised Angie's work. One commissioner said the victim advocacy program “does a great job” and compared it favorably with other programs in the state; the commissioner noted a recent staff layoff due to budget cuts and thanked Angie for stepping up.
There was no formal action on the presentation. The commission invited the advocate to present the finalized grant details when available.
