Board reviews annual MS4 stormwater responsibilities, Tremble Creek pollution-prevention duties

At the June 23 meeting trustees reviewed the village’s annual stormwater action plan under the MS4 program and its responsibilities to prevent pollution entering Tremble Creek.
Trustee Geiger explained the village has formal drainage systems that discharge to Tremble Creek, which was described in the meeting as a sensitive habitat and recreational stream. Geiger said the village is liable for anything that enters the creek from its outfalls and that the village must inspect each outfall structure annually and report any discharges to the IEK (as stated in the transcript). Employees attend training and the village must promote clean-water practices in the village newsletter and on the website.
Geiger presented the 2025 MS4 program annual facility inspection report and asked the board to be aware of the activities required under the permit. No formal vote was recorded on the presentation; the item was an informational requirement of the stormwater permit program.
Trustees were told the village will continue inspections and outreach as part of compliance with the MS4 program.
