CJCC executive committee approves bylaw change allowing single designee to attend meetings

The Dunn County Criminal Justice Coordinating Council executive committee voted to amend its bylaws on May 21 to clarify delegate attendance rules, approving language that adds the word “single” to references to a designee and deletes the phrase limiting designees to “no more than 2 consecutive.”

The change, approved by voice vote, was presented as a technical amendment to ensure stakeholders can send alternates who may attend council meetings, help maintain quorum and allow the council to conduct business. Staff member Sarah described the amendment as “just a bylaws change to clear up the language regarding delegates,” saying that adding the word “single” and deleting the consecutive limit “will really broaden that out so we’re able to get delegates to attend in order to have quorum, have actions, make decisions, do business.”

Chair McCullough moved the amendment and Judge Wagner seconded the motion. After no discussion, committee members responded in the affirmative and the motion passed by voice vote. The committee did not record a roll-call tally in the meeting minutes.

The amendment applies to the CJCC bylaws document (noted in the meeting packet as CGC CJCC bylaws, page 3, paragraph 4, line 5). Committee members described the change as clarifying existing practice rather than creating a new policy.

Committee staff will incorporate the revised wording into the bylaws text and include the change in materials for the full CJCC when appropriate.
