At a meeting of the Judiciary Personnel and Licensing Committee, trustees voted 3-0 to recommend three candidates to the Village of Shorewood’s bid board and were told the police commission appointment had already been made by the Village President and was not before the committee.
The recommendation sends the names Kyle Beyer, Megan Hendricks and Jackie Creighton to the Village Board for consideration at its June 16, 2025, meeting. Committee members moved and seconded the recommendation and the chair called the question; the motion carried 3 to 0.
The Village President (unnamed) told the committee, “The police commission appointment is actually a presidential appointment. So this application I was actually, asking to have put under the village president report so I would notify because I have made the appointment. So it's not something that the, JP and L committee needs to discuss.” That statement clarified the committee would not act on the police commission candidate slate.
Trustee (unnamed), who moved the committee recommendation, read the slate into the record: “I move to recommend the following members to the bid board, Kyle Beyer, Megan Hendricks, Jackie Creighton, for approval and consideration during the Village Board's 06/16/2025 meeting.” The committee chair (unnamed) seconded the motion and presided over the vote.
There was limited discussion; one trustee offered standard thanks to applicants and to clerk staff for processing applications. With no further business, the committee adjourned at 6:56 p.m.
The committee’s vote is a recommendation only; formal appointment authority for these nominees rests with the Village Board when it considers the slate on June 16, 2025.
