The Westfield Common Council unanimously approved a resolution correcting a scrivener’s error in ordinance 24‑O‑3 (Grama Millennium PUD District Amendment 3) that had mistakenly included standalone multifamily as a permitted use in the recorded ordinance text.
Lauren Gillingham Teague of the Community Development Department told the council staff discovered that the published ordinance included standalone multifamily even though meeting discussion and supporting documents indicated that standalone multifamily was not intended to be permitted. Teague said the resolution before the council corrects the error and is eligible for adoption that evening.
A member of the city legal department noted the correction was clearly a scrivener’s error when compared with the record materials, that the legal team reviewed the change, and that the department colleague Nicole Buskull had worked on the community development planning and zoning work related to this item.
Councilor Victor McCarty moved to approve resolution 25-1-37, which Councilor John Dart seconded. The motion passed on a 6-0 roll-call vote. Staff said the correction reconciles the recorded ordinance with the council’s prior intent and the supporting documentation; no substantive policy change was made.
