Board approves Duke Energy easement at Prosser to speed utility work

Several board members asked whether other property owners who share the driveway or benefit from the new alignment should help pay. Chris Street (staff) and other presenters said they would check who benefits and whether cost-sharing is feasible. Board members said they wanted confirmation that the work is contained to district property; staff committed to follow up.
The motion to approve the easement passed with six members recorded “aye” and one member absent. Board members asked staff to report back with any new information about property impacts or outside cost shares.
No construction start date was published in the meeting; staff said the contractor sought authority to begin work promptly to avoid late-July disruption to buses and summer activities at Prosser.
