The Homewood City Council on Monday authorized the city manager to sign a contract with the Regional Planning Commission of Greater Birmingham (RPCGB) to provide HUD grant management services for stormwater work in the Mayfair area.
Cale Smith told the finance committee that the federal grant for Mayfair-area stormwater work flows through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the RPCGB will manage the grant process. The finance committee voted 5–0 to recommend approval; Councilor Aleman made the committee motion and Councilor Walney seconded. The council approved the contract 10–0.
Councilors described the arrangement as helping the city manage a complicated federal grant process. The contract was recorded on the meeting as Resolution 25-101 and staff were directed to proceed with contract signature and implementation steps.
No dollar figures were discussed in detail at the council meeting; staff characterized the contract as a grant-management arrangement to help ensure compliance with HUD requirements and to coordinate stormwater project delivery in the Mayfair area.
