Council approves Track Shack right-of-way use after film-permit and insurance assurances

Councilor Simms and Councilor Aleman had voted no in committee. After the committee meeting, councilors received documentation showing the project had been approved through Film Birmingham and that the applicant’s insurance policy would protect the city from liability. Councilor Simms said that information "changes my opinion on this" and that the insurance naming the city removes liability concerns.
On the council floor the motion to grant permission passed unanimously, 10–0. The council referred to the supporting paperwork and noted the Film Birmingham clearance and the insurer naming the City of Homewood as an additional insured.
Councilors described the information as decisive in overturning earlier reservations and approved the request without amendment. The council recorded the action as a resolution and instructed staff to file the insurance and permit documentation with the project record.
