The Fremont County School District No. 2 board voted to approve a final tender agreement with the surety and the completion contractor for the district's generator project and authorized a district staff member to sign the document, the board said during its June meeting.
The agreement, described in the district's administrative report, is intended to allow Sage Electric Solutions, the completion contractor, to finish work on the generator once signatures are executed. “Once the signatures are made to this tender agreement between the parties involved, within 14 days, that work should be slated to begin,” said Steve (staff member). He added Sage Electric “is gonna be the contractor that's gonna come out, do the finished work.”
Board members amended the motion at the meeting to identify the district staff signer. The board approved a revised motion that specified Steve Sleagle as the signer; the measure passed 6-0 with one member absent. The board recorded no additional conditions on the motion at the time of the vote.
District staff said an insurance payment of about $13,400 will be issued to the district to cover overages between the original contract and the amount required to complete the project. Staff also warned that High Plains Power will need to cut power to the main K–12 building on a day to be scheduled so the new service can be connected; the district has not set that date because the agreement was unsigned until the board action.
Board discussion and staff remarks clarified next steps: once executed, signatures will be shared with district administrators for documentation and the completion contractor will schedule its work. No additional deadlines or effective dates for restoration of full service were provided at the meeting.
The board voted to enter executive session on personnel after completing action items; no further public details about implementation were given.
