Wayne County schools report $135,429.91 in donations for fiscal year; board presses for timely reporting

Officials for Wayne County Public Schools reported $135,429.91 in combined monetary and nonmonetary donations for fiscal year 2024–25 and asked the board to press schools for timely reporting.
Miss Rouse, presenting the donations report, said monetary donations totaled $89,721.67 and nonmonetary donations totaled $45,708.24, for a combined total of $135,429.91. "We do remind the schools every year, at least twice a year to report," Miss Rouse said, noting the district relies on school administrators and bookkeepers to notify the central office so gifts can be acknowledged and approved by the board.
Board members raised concerns that some donations made in recent months had not yet appeared in reports and that turnover among bookkeepers may contribute to inconsistent reporting. Rouse said the district provides an annual bookkeepers training and one-on-one onboarding for new bookkeepers and that staff will send additional reminders during the year.
A board member pointed out a typographical error in the donations list (the entry for Delta Sigma Theta was misspelled); staff said they would correct the spelling for the record.
The donations listing and acknowledgement were approved by the board.
