Board approves extension of Yeoman Creek solar lease through Dec. 31; district readies community signup

The Board of Education authorized the board president to execute a third amendment to the limited ground lease and operations agreement with BQ Energy LLC, extending the Yeoman Creek lease through Dec. 31, 2025, and approving terms recommended by the Yeoman Creek remediation group and the board’s special environmental counsel.
Board members said the long‑running Yeoman Creek solar remediation project is finally moving toward community enrollment and operation. “I am so pleased that we are moving forward with that and that they are starting to or will begin very soon to, solicit families to sign up for, our Yeoman Creek, solar farm,” one board member said during the discussion.
The motion carried on a roll-call vote; the board did not change the approved lease amendment language at the public meeting. District staff said the lease extension will allow the developer to complete remaining steps and begin outreach to local families for participation in the program.
No objections were recorded; the board’s action authorizes the board president to sign the approved amendment and continues the district’s relationship with the project developer for the near term.
