The Raymore City Council approved first-reading action Monday on an intergovernmental agreement to provide school resource officer (SRO) services to the Raymore Peculiar School District for the 2025–26 school year.
Chief Wilson presented the RAPEC 2025‑26 agreement, which runs from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026. Chief Wilson said the agreement increases the full‑day rate from $280 to $290 and that the half‑day rate increased as well; staff noted the total number of school days in the agreement remains at 175.
Council members asked whether the city and district had discussed adding an additional SRO. Chief Wilson said the school district has raised the possibility but that any decision to add a second dedicated SRO would be up to the school district; Raymore police staff said they are prepared to support a second position if the district provides resources.
During the meeting, council members also clarified how deputies and officers are assigned: deputies are stationed at East Middle School (where deputies had two positions), Raymore has one SRO covering Raymore schools, and Peculiar officers cover areas outside the city limits. The ordinance passed its first reading; the council recorded the motion as passing on the first read.
The agreement secures an SRO presence in Raymore schools for the coming school year and confirms the per‑day compensation increases reported by staff.
