The Sunnyside City Council adopted an updated Public Records Act policy to implement requirements under RCW 42.56 and to formalize staff procedures for public-records requests.
City staff said the draft posted for council review incorporated council and attorney edits, including removing a previously proposed flat fee, inserting specific time limits for in-office record review and granting the public-records officer access permissions to records necessary to respond to requests.
Councilor Hart moved adoption and the item passed on roll call with councilors present voting yes. The council recorded no substantive amendments at the meeting; staff will proceed with the new policy and the city’s public records procedures as updated.
