The Rutherford County Regional Planning Commission approved a site plan on June 24 for a roughly 4,700‑square‑foot addition to Walter Hill Church of Christ, including a new fellowship space and interior renovations.
Planning staff told the commission the addition increases the sanctuary and occupancy beyond 500 persons, creating a large community assembly classification and was the reason the church completed a rezoning earlier this year. "You recall those renovations resulted and or will result in their occupancy and their sanctuary exceeding 500 persons, which made it a large community assembly as opposed to a medium according to the zoning ordinance," staff said, noting the Board of Commissioners had approved the rezoning in May.
Staff reviewed the site plan and found parking provision adequate for the addition and no outstanding site‑plan comments that would prevent approval. "This site plan appears to be in good order," the county planner said.
A commissioner moved to approve the site plan; the motion passed by voice vote.
