Palm Springs to rebid Demuth Park pickleball project; temporary courts' fencing completed

At the June 23 Palm Springs Parks and Recreation Commission meeting, staff reported that the City previously rejected all bids for the Demuth Park pickleball project and has reissued the public bid. The department said it will review bids over the next month and hopes to bring a contract award to City Council in August.
On temporary facilities, the project manager reported that the on‑call fencing contractor completed most temporary court fencing and installed gates. “All the fencing, our parks maintenance crew has been out there, cleaning the site up as well… Fencing is completed… we’re working on just getting a finalizing a little bit of bond paperwork with our servicing contractor expecting to start this week,” a staff member said.
Staff said public works coordinated tree pruning around the courts to improve shade and that signage and finishing details remain. The department also noted that an offsite lease the city is using for temporary courts is for roughly 13 months. No formal motions or votes were taken on the item; staff will return with bid review results and a recommended contract award for council consideration.
