Dale Moore said he and his family moved to Sebastian from Orlando a few years ago and described a 50‑year background in themed entertainment, hospitality and boat design. Moore volunteered to monitor two parks, and the chair and members assigned Moore to Riverview Park and Friendship Park.
Committee members reviewed park conditions: one member requested no‑parking signs on Bryant and George Street parks to prevent vehicles or trailers parking on turf; another reported the turf and swings at Bridal Court and George Street are in active use; Kildeer Park (playground) and the Barber Street Sports Complex were discussed for volunteer oversight; Garden Park volunteers and a local Girl Scout troop are planning a workday; and members noted Riverview Park shoreline stabilization is progressing and that oyster staging pods had been placed.
A committee member recounted a manatee sighting near Fisherman's Wharf with two calves and encouraged morning visits to Riverview Park. Staff and committee members also outlined upcoming community events at Riverview Park: the Fourth of July parade and FreedomFest and the department’s fall events including a Touch & Tour equipment day (Sept. 13) and Kids Fest (Oct. 4), a children‑oriented event planned for ages roughly 15 and under with activities such as fishing clinics, poetry workshops and sidewalk chalk competitions.
The committee agreed to finalize a revised adopt‑a‑park list after staff circulates a cleaned‑up assignment sheet. Members were reminded that the committee will review its capital improvement program (CIP) at the next meeting and that event programming will be scheduled in line with budget and sponsorship availability.
