Board approves FY2025 closeout items, school appropriation and several administrative contracts

At its June 23 meeting the Rockbridge County Board of Supervisors approved several routine fiscal and administrative items to close fiscal year 2025 and authorize planned contracts and permits.
School appropriation: The board approved a resolution requesting additional appropriations for the school division totaling $261,833; staff said $8,833 represents grants for teacher salaries and $253,000 represents state funds for staff bonus pay. The motion to adopt carried unanimously.
County closeout and bills: County finance staff presented a resolution authorizing payment of bills totaling $566,096.48 and additional appropriations totaling $297,637. Staff reported preliminary general‑fund revenues of $61,296,174 and expenses of $58,190,553 (staff noted these are not final audited figures). The board adopted the closeout resolution and also approved a motion authorizing payment of the final FY2025 payroll as recommended by auditors.
Contracts and permits: The board approved a contract with Haasetter Excavating LLC to install slat fencing at the Goshen Collection Center for $22,201.30 and authorized the county administrator to execute the agreement. The board approved the Cars Creek Farmers Market application for a five‑year permit to operate Saturdays 9–11 a.m., May through September at the Hart property. The board also reappointed a planning commission member whose term ends July 13.
Ending: County staff noted the FY2026 budget book has been completed and will be printed and posted online; the preliminary audit has not identified issues. The board moved to adjourn to its next regular meeting on July 28.
