City program staff Krista Hernandez and Director Henry Hammond Paul answered questions about how the city coordinates multiple service contracts. Hernandez noted the contract’s role in the Connect network and said similar performance and reporting requirements apply to all grantees.
Councilor Lee Garcia asked whether any grantees had nonprofit status problems. Hernandez clarified that the organization he likely referenced — Esperanza Shelter — had experienced 501(c)(3) status concerns but now operates with a fiscal sponsor, the New Mexico Coalition Against Domestic Violence. "That organization now does have a fiscal sponsor," Hernandez said.
The committee approved the St. Elizabeth Shelter contract on a recorded roll call. Staff said the contracts all require mid‑year and year‑end reports and participation in referral coordination through the Connect network.
