McDonald described the proposed addition as compatible with the existing massing and materials, and said the project would not expand or otherwise alter the visible historic core.
Will McDonald, an applicant representative, and staff confirmed the proposal calls for stucco in an El Rey fawn color, white door and window cladding and exposed wood elements stained to match the property’s palette. Staff’s recommendation found the project complied with the downtown and East‑side design standards (Section 14‑5.2(d)/(e) as applicable).
Member Beachside moved to approve the application as submitted; Member Cherry seconded the motion and the board approved it by roll call vote. No public opposition was raised at the hearing.
