Plainfield 202 highlights summer programs and 77 students earn Illinois Seal of Biliteracy

District officials told the Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 Board of Education on June 23 that summer school programming, professional development and facilities work are underway and that 77 students earned the Illinois Seal of Biliteracy for 2025.
A speaker summarizing district communications said the district’s summer offerings include extended school year (ESY) services, bilingual summer school, middle- and high-school programs, and summer sports and music camps. The district noted it has issued the Illinois Seal of Biliteracy recognition since 2018; to earn the seal, students must demonstrate high proficiency in English and at least one additional language, typically via an Advanced Placement foreign-language test with a score of 3 or higher.
District staff also said District 202 is partnering with Kendall and Will County health departments to offer back-to-school wellness clinics from June through October. Specific events listed in the meeting packet and public remarks include the Will County Back-to-School Health Fair on July 12 and a District 202 wellness day in Will County on July 26 offering physicals, immunizations and dental services. District staff said information about the events is posted on the district website.
Board members and administrators framed the report as a year-end summary tied to the district strategic plan and thanked staff and families for the school year’s work.
