Larson thanked the Siouxland Library and Peach Ranch Bridal for support of the district’s summer reading program and acknowledged extensive summer maintenance across buildings — concrete and asphalt repairs, flooring replacement (including a large commons flooring project at the high school), and routine custodial work. He invited board members to contact him to arrange site tours.
On operations, Larson gave the district’s academic calendar details: Aug. 20 is the first day of school for students in grades 1‑12; junior kindergarten and kindergarten families have visits on the Wednesday and Thursday preceding school and begin Friday, Aug. 22; early childhood begins Aug. 25. Larson also reminded families the district’s bus‑pass purchase and ridership notification period opens July 1 and closes July 25; he said students who miss that deadline cannot begin riding until Monday, Sept. 29.
In response to a board question about the transportation department parking lot at the district’s North Side (bus barn) location, Larson said crews have completed subgrade work, gravel is down and pavement should go down once weather permits.
