During the public comment portion of the meeting, Jennifer Brooks and Nikki Bucks described ongoing problems at the Landmark Condominium and asked the council to remember and act on behalf of homeowners who have sought help.
Nikki Bucks said her remarks were on behalf of Judy Clemons, who “died a year ago on the eighteenth last week,” and asked the council to “give her homage.” Bucks played an audio excerpt during her public comment and described the recording as evidence of an individual being “ambushed” and “forced her way into Judy's unit and further accosted her.” The audio played included repeated commands: “Get out of my unit. Get out of my unit. Get out of my unit.”
Bucks showed images she said were of “Judy's arms” and said the battle over the building has lasted “almost 4 years.” She urged council members not to forget Clemons, saying “She died fighting this cause.”
Council members thanked the speakers and one member (Boone) offered to connect the speaker with Council Member Byron Amos’ office for district follow-up; the speaker provided an address, 941 Proctor Street, and staff said they would follow up.
Ending: Council staff offered to connect the speaker to the appropriate district office and to provide assistance with contacts and follow-up; no formal action was taken at the meeting.
