The Holland City Council on June 4 approved a development-district liquor license request from Holland Country Club LLC for a downtown location on River Avenue, after staff notified council the Downtown Development Authority was not separately notified for review.
Keith Van Beek, city manager, told council that the license application meets state liquor control rules and that, while the city typically forwards such requests to the Downtown Development Authority for comment, that step was not completed in this instance. "We didn't send it to the DDA first," Van Beek said, adding the omission is not a requirement under state rules and staff informed the DDA afterward.
Councilmember Scholteis moved to approve the license; Councilmember Hsieh seconded. The council conducted a roll-call vote and the motion passed with all present members voting yes.
Councilmember Corbin asked a clarifying question to confirm the license is for an establishment rather than a single event; staff confirmed that the request is for an ongoing establishment license.
No public comments were offered during the hearing on the application, and no conditions or amendments were attached to the council approval.
