School committee approves superintendent goals and evaluation timeline using SuperVal

The East Bridgewater School Committee voted June 18 to approve Superintendent goals, standards, indicators and an evaluation timeline that will use the SuperVal (SuperVal) software for evidence uploads and review.

Superintendent-designate (presenter identified in packet materials as Gina) outlined three overarching goals: a professional practice goal tied to superintendent induction, a student-learning goal centered on data-informed decisions and district assessments, and a district-improvement goal connected to developing a three-year district improvement plan. She said the evaluation will be structured around the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) four standards—instructional leadership, management and operations, family and community engagement, and professional culture—and a limited set of indicators chosen by the superintendent evaluation subcommittee. The subcommittee selected specific indicators and elements under those standards and proposed evidence and timelines for each action.

Committee members asked about cascading the evaluation and goals to principals and directors. Gina said principals and directors will set goals (minimums of one student-learning and one professional-practice goal) and that she will complete mid-year and year-end reviews with building leaders. The committee agreed to SuperVal for documentation and to a one-year review of goals by early April to align the evaluation with the election and reorganization timeline.

The committee approved the goals and timeline by voice vote; members discussed using the system to collect evidence throughout the year for evaluation conversations and to provide transparency to the committee.
