The El Campo City Council approved the purchase and financing for a Timco Bridal 600 regenerative air sweeper priced at $356,550, financed by a five‑year fixed‑rate loan from First Financial Bank at 4.5 percent.
Staff said the new sweeper will replace the city's 2020 street sweeper, which reaches its final payment this December, and that proceeds from selling the old unit would offset loan costs. Staff estimated lead time to receive the new machine could be up to a year.
Council members asked about annual payment changes and resale value of the used machine. Staff provided the current annual payment of about $44,881 and said the proposed annual payment without sale proceeds would be about $81,291; staff also said resale values for well‑maintained sweepers can approach 50 percent of original cost in some cases. The council approved the purchase and financing by motion and voice vote.
Staff noted the purchase timing is intended to avoid overlap of payments and to maintain the city's maintenance schedule for street sweepers.
