The Roswell Mayor and Council on Monday approved a resolution authorizing the city to acquire roughly 24 acres at 365 Hardscrabble Road for $7,500,000, a purchase the city attorney said will expand an existing adjacent city-owned park parcel to about 49 to 50 acres.
City Attorney David Davidson presented the item as a recommended purchase to tie into a city-owned 25-acre parcel acquired in 2016. "This would tie into that property and give us approximately 49 or 50 acres to be used as a park," Davidson said, recommending approval of the purchase.
Council members voted unanimously to approve the resolution. No members of the public spoke on the item during the meeting.
The transaction is presented as a one-time acquisition to expand parkland; staff did not present a development plan or budget details for park improvements at the meeting. Council asked no additional questions before the motion and vote to approve the acquisition.
