Childress said the county previously passed a 2024 resolution to turn off public comments on commissioners’ social-media pages; that resolution, he said, applied only to commission-run pages and not to separate departmental pages but that a new resolution would provide clearer authority for the shelter to reactivate comments.
Bullock said enabling comments would make it easier to answer questions and post updates and that shelter partners and the public use Facebook heavily when considering adoptions. Commissioners discussed whether a formal resolution was needed and agreed it would give the shelter better cover; the item was slated to be placed on a future agenda for a formal vote.
