The Gardner City Council voted to appoint Amy Nastas to the position of Deputy City Administrator, a role that will include oversight of human resources, information technology, building maintenance, grants and process-improvement initiatives.

Why it matters: Nastas previously served in the city and returns with additional experience gained while serving as city manager in Florence, Colorado; council members described her as a familiar and capable leader who will immediately resume supervisory duties.
