The certification, delivered from the stage, concluded the school's commencement ceremony. "As principal of Jack Britt High School, I certify that these seniors have met all the requirements set forth by Cumberland County Schools and the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. By the power vested in me, I hereby declare the Class of 2025 graduates of Jack Britt High School," the principal said, and then instructed students to turn their tassels.
The Cumberland County Board of Education was represented in the program and onstage by Board Chair Deanna Jones and Vice Chair Judy Musgrave, along with members Dolores Bell, Jacqueline Brown, Tiara Jordan, Susan Williams and Superintendent Dr. Marvin Conley Jr. Several central services leaders were also listed as in attendance, including Kevin Coleman, Dr. Melody Chalmers McClain, Dr. Jane Fields, Dr. Milada Hill, Ruben Reyes, Nicholas Soika (board attorney), Jade Tolan and Dr. Lindsey Whitley. The presence of board members and district staff was acknowledged during the ceremony's introductions.
School announcers also reported that the graduating seniors collectively earned nearly $4,500,000 in scholarships. The program named several high-achieving graduates and their next steps: valedictorian Carol Sui was announced as attending Duke University on a full scholarship; salutatorian Gabrielle Humphrey was announced as attending the Massachusetts Institute of Technology; Sameh Amoud (class president) was announced as attending the United States Military Academy at West Point; and Kelsey Belgrove (student body president) was announced as attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
The ceremony featured student speakers who offered reflections to the class; those remarks were ceremonial and were part of the commencement program. The principal’s certification is an administrative declaration required for issuance of diplomas under district and state rules and was recorded as the formal close of the event.
