Rossford council approved multiple financial measures, including transferring seized funds per court order to law enforcement trust, supplemental appropriations for departments, and purchase of a Chevrolet Silverado for a newly approved interdiction officer using forfeited funds.
Rossford City Council on June 24 approved several ordinances affecting city finances and equipment purchases.
Ordinance 2025-46 authorized the transfer of seized funds to the law enforcement trust fund as required by court order. Council adopted the measure after a motion to suspend readings and recorded aye votes. The amount transferred was not specified during the meeting.
Council also approved ordinance 2025-47, a supplemental appropriation measure that added funds to the fire department for supplies and scheduling migration to inTime software, funded software upgrades for Public Works to the iWorQ system, allocated forfeited funds per the court order, added recreation cleaning contract funds, funded AEDs and a video laryngoscope for fire capital improvements, and provided funds for stormwater repairs at the marina. Mark Kres described the line items during the meeting.
Separately, council adopted ordinance 2025-45 to purchase a Chevrolet Silverado 1500 to equip an interdiction officer position the council approved at a prior meeting. Allison (staff) said the vehicle is a 2024 model being offered at a discount and that the purchase was expected to be funded with forfeited funds. "This would be for the new interdiction officer that council approved, the last council meeting," Allison said.
All ordinances were moved with motions to suspend additional readings, emergency declarations where applicable, and recorded aye votes by multiple council members.
Why it matters: The measures move city funds and equipment into place for ongoing operations across public safety, recreation, public works and stormwater maintenance. The seized funds transfer also executes a court-ordered disposition of forfeited assets.
Next steps: Administration to execute transfers and vendor contracts; Public Works and finance to implement software migrations and capital purchases and report back to council as required.
