The Sylvania Board of Education on June 23 approved a transfer from the general fund to the capital projects fund (Fund 70) not to exceed 6,700,000.0 and adopted several routine fiscal measures and insurance renewals as part of its consent agenda.
The actions were taken as part of the board's consent agenda, which included final appropriations and an amended certificate for fiscal year 2025, temporary appropriations and amended certificate for fiscal year 2026, and acceptance of certificates for vendors noted on the agenda. The board also approved annual liability, cyber and crime insurance through the Ohio School Plan.
During discussion of consent items, a staff member reported that the district is “trending in the right direction” with forecasted revenue and expenses and said a full fiscal-year overview will be presented at a July or early August meeting. Board members asked a question about turf work: the softball turf repair is fully covered by warranty, while the annual reconditioning and testing contract is for the football field to extend useful life.
The transfer to Fund 70 was presented as a not-to-exceed authorization; the board approved the motion on the consent agenda. The meeting record indicates the motion carried with the voting members present voting in favor and one member absent.
The board took the votes during its regular meeting; no additional public discussion of the transfer or the insurance items was recorded.
