The money for the roofing work and the sprinkler system was set aside; the city, not the school department, owns the building and is coordinating the construction.
“That'll open up the building,” a committee member said, noting the sprinkler installation was an infrastructure requirement before other interior work or classroom reconfiguration could proceed. The committee discussed that the next facility-subcommittee meeting should receive a full update including a complete plan for PACE’s future use, because the timeline for opening in September 2025 is not feasible based on current schedules.
Members agreed the city funding for roof and fire suppression was appropriate, and several requested a fuller plan and bidder/contract documentation at a future facilities subcommittee meeting so the committee could weigh programmatic uses and avoid piecemeal changes after construction begins.
