Athletics report highlights state titles, new BuildMade program; board approves coaching/advisor baseline and WIAA renewal

The Milton School District athletics and activities director presented annual performance highlights and a new recognition program, and trustees approved staffing baselines and renewed membership in the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) for 2025-26.
The director noted the district’s student-athlete GPA (reported as about 3.48), community events including dedications of Jerry Slim Stadium and the varsity baseball field, and 23 student-athlete commitments to collegiate athletics. The girls wrestling team was recognized as the first girls team state champion in their division, and individual coaches received state honors.
The presentation introduced a new program called BuildMade, a cross-season competition among teams that scores academic achievement, community service, school improvement and competitive success and rewards teams and grand-champion recognition during homecoming week. The program’s first-season winners were listed by season: cross country (fall), girls basketball (winter) and girls soccer (spring). The athletics office said staff will refine the system over the summer to account for differences in team size and activity type.
On personnel matters, the board approved a baseline for athletics support staffing and wages for the 2025-26 year (the materials listed 247 support staff positions and related wage templates) and approved letters of employment for coaches, advisers and interns. The motion to adopt the athletics baseline carried.
The board also approved renewal of WIAA membership for the 2025-26 school year so the district can maintain participation in interscholastic athletics. Staff said the board president would complete and sign the membership form.
