The Community Review Board voted to recommend a 13% merit increase for its executive director and to forward a letter to the mayor seeking approval.
The recommendation — an average 13% increase arrived at by the board’s executive committee — was approved by voice vote at the board’s June meeting and will be transmitted to the mayor’s office for final action. Board members also agreed the recommendation factors in that no merit increase was awarded in 2023.
Board members said the raise follows a formal evaluation by the executive committee and supporting materials including the director’s job description, resume and a highlights document. Executive Director Edie Fitchard thanked the board and staff during the meeting: “I wanna thank you, mister Holloway, chair Holloway, for your support and all of the members of the board, and I appreciate you advocating for me to receive an increase in my salary,” she said.
Board members described the process used to calculate the recommendation. The executive committee members each recorded a recommended percentage, and the board reported the committee’s average as 13%. The board chair told members that voting to approve the recommended figure would also advance the formal letter to the mayor.
The board noted that municipal budget decisions limit what the mayor’s office can approve. Executive staff told the board they had not received additional department funding for fiscal year 2026 and that roughly $30,000 in departmental savings had been recalled earlier in the budget process. The board also learned that a requested CRB vehicle was not listed in the mayor’s budget and that the board was awaiting a separate confirmation from fleet management or the office of budget management.
The board’s approval is advisory: the mayor must sign off. A member of the board said after the vote that the recommendation will be sent to HR and the mayor’s office and the board will notify members when it receives the mayor’s written response.
