Warrick County trustees recognize student-athletes who advanced to state competitions

The Warrick County School Corp recognized student-athletes and teams from multiple district schools who advanced to state competition.

Coaches from Booneville High School highlighted the seasons of Ava Kelly and Jordan Paul. Coach Mays said Ava, a junior, earned multiple conference championships and set school and meet records during the season; she finished 15th in the 100 at the state meet, and the coach noted she set a new school record with a 12.07 at the Midwest meet of champions. "Ava had a pretty good year this year," Coach Mays said, summarizing her conference and school-record performances.

Coach Selby described Jordan Paul’s season in the 110 hurdles, noting he was a regional champion as a sophomore, ran multiple state-standard times during the season and ran 14.77 at the state meet in a historically deep field. "He ran nearly a quarter of a second faster than that and was on the outside looking in," Coach Selby said when describing the depth of the event this year.

The board also congratulated Tecumseh High School’s softball program for winning the Class 2A state championship and noted Castle High School’s golf team finished eighth in state with Braden Lamborn earning all-state recognition; the board recited names of several Castle track and field and golf participants who reached state-level competition.

The recognitions were ceremonial; no formal actions were required or taken.
