Clay County Commission approves $1.13 million in county invoices, prosecutor invoices and several contracts

The Clay County Commission unanimously approved a five-item consent agenda that included 380 county invoices totaling $1,129,224.37 and authorized a capital purchase for the Road and Bridge Department, and later approved 15 invoices for the Clay County Prosecutor’s Office totaling $5,525.44.

The consent agenda, explained by the county administrator, covered routine items the commission handles in a single motion. It included meeting minutes from May 1, May 15 and May 22; Resolution 2025-174 approving invoice payments for Clay County for the period of May 17 through May 24 (380 invoices, $1,129,224.37); Resolution 2025-171 approving a capital project encumbrance and purchase of a Mack semi tractor from NexTrak Truck for the Road and Bridge Department; Resolution 2025-172 approving an agreement between Clay County and the Missouri Department of Mental Health to provide services at the detention center; and Resolution 2025-173 accepting the fiscal year 2024 Local Law Enforcement Block Grant with the Missouri Department of Public Safety, Criminal Justice, for the sheriff’s office.

Commissioner Johnson moved to approve the consent agenda; after no discussion the commission voted 5-0 to adopt it. Later on the regular agenda the commission considered Resolution 2025-175, approving invoice payments for the Clay County Prosecutor’s Office for the period of May 17 through May 24 (15 invoices totaling $5,525.44). Commissioner Johnson moved approval of Resolution 2025-175; after no discussion the commission voted 5-0 in favor.

The meeting record shows the motions and roll-call votes read aloud; recorded votes tied to each motion were unanimous. The county administrator announced the commission’s next meeting will be Thursday, June 5 at 6:00 p.m. in the chambers. Commissioner Lawson noted the meeting lasted about 11 minutes.
