Major Bradshaw of the sheriff’s office told the board the vendor has shifted from a one‑time purchase model to a subscription approach in which the county does not own the equipment outright but pays for equipment and support over time. Bradshaw said the subscription model explains the contract length.
One supervisor said a 10‑year purchasing agreement felt “dicey,” expressing concern about tying the county to a single vendor for a long period and asking whether the agreement included exit or opt‑out clauses. Major Bradshaw replied the contract includes language allowing the county to opt out if funding becomes unavailable or an alternative is found; he also said county counsel reviewed and approved the contract.
The board voted to approve the contract as presented. The transcript records a motion and second and a voice vote of “aye” with no opposed votes recorded on the motion.
