The La Paz County Board of Supervisors adopted two proclamations and approved a bingo license recommendation during its June 2 meeting.

The board voted to adopt Proclamation No. 2025-11 recognizing National Men’s Health Week from June 9–15, 2025. The proclamation cites public health goals to encourage disease-prevention screenings and healthier lifestyles and notes that nationwide life expectancy for men remains lower than for women. The chairman said he hoped the proclamation would encourage men to participate in preventive screenings and services offered in the county.

The board also adopted Proclamation No. 2025-12 declaring June 2025 as Elder Abuse Awareness Month and urging communities to promote awareness, prevention and support services for older adults; the proclamation references the Western Arizona Council of Governments area agency on aging as a partner in awareness efforts.

On a separate public hearing and action, county staff reported receipt of a bingo license application from Lieutenant Colonel Joseph D. O'Hanlon VFW Post 2357, located at 45190 Highway 72 in Baus. Lori, a county staff member who presented the item, said the application was for a Class A recreational nonprofit bingo license and that the applicant had submitted required paperwork and that county staff had received no objections. The board voted to recommend approval to the Arizona Department of Revenue; the county’s action transmits a recommendation only — final licensing is completed by the Department of Revenue.
