"As we went through our vetting process of choosing a company for our dropout recovery program, we went through 3 different companies," Miss Lewis said, and the district selected Legacy Learning because it is local to the region and emphasizes one-on-one student support.
Miss Lewis also cited a 2016 study she said estimated economic impacts tied to dropouts; she reported that figure to emphasize community cost but framed the program primarily as a student-support effort. She described the Accommodation District as the vehicle for providing accreditation and program delivery through Legacy Learning.
A motion to approve the proposed agreement was made and seconded; the board voted in favor with no recorded opposition.
Clarifying details recorded in the presentation included the 86 percent graduation rate figure cited by Miss Lewis, that three providers were considered during the vendor selection process, and that Legacy Learning was described as based in Show Low and offering local, personalized supports.
