Council members reviewed two applications for the seat and asked whether the applicants wanted to speak. Rasheed described his community relationships with local leaders and said he has assisted people with developmental disabilities in learning about their rights and services.
A council member nominated Rasheed; the motion was seconded. The transcript contains a roll-call exchange in which Council member McPheron said “Aye,” Council member Vasquez said “Aye,” and Council member Scranton registered “Aye.” The transcript goes on to say, "Thank you both for your interest ... Mohammed, welcome aboard," indicating the appointment was approved in that recorded exchange.
Council staff said Rasheed would be invited to attend another council meeting in July and complete onboarding for the commission.
