The Elizabeth School District board accepted the resignation of board member Jonathan Waller, effective June 10, 2025, declared a board vacancy and outlined the appointment process to fill the seat.
In a read resolution, staff said the board will accept letters of interest and statements of qualifications from interested persons through 5 p.m. on July 15, 2025; the vacancy posting will go on the district website on Tuesday, June 24, 2025. The resolution notes that, to be eligible, a candidate must have been a registered elector of the Elizabeth School District for at least 12 consecutive months prior to appointment and must not have been convicted of an offense against a child, with the transcript referencing Colorado revised statute 22‑31‑10,715.
The appointee will serve until the next regular biennial school election in November 2025. The motion to accept the resignation and declare the vacancy was approved by roll call.
Staff said candidates may be contacted and the board may determine whether to move one or more candidates forward for further consideration.
