Board shortens meeting schedule, approves combined work-session option and 2025–26 calendar

The Elizabeth School District board approved revisions to policy BE (school board meetings) to permit occasional combined board work sessions and business meetings and approved a revised 2025–26 meeting schedule with time adjustments.
Staff said the policy change allows the board to hold combined work sessions and regular meetings occasionally so members have time for substantive data reviews and other responsibilities. The board discussed start times for combined meetings; they agreed to set combined meetings to end at 9 p.m. rather than 8 p.m. to allow sufficient discussion time. Regular business sessions will continue to begin at 6 p.m., staff said.
The board voted to approve the policy change on final reading and approved the 2025–26 meeting calendar as revised. Staff said combined meetings and business sessions will have separate minutes and that the public will be able to participate during the business session if unable to attend a prior work session.
