Planning Commission approves 2024 annual report for submission to Maryland Dept. of Planning

The St. Mary’s County Planning Commission on June 23 approved its 2024 annual report and authorized staff to transmit the document to the Maryland Department of Planning by the state deadline.
Jessica Andrich, director of the Department of Land Use and Growth Management, presented the report and said it was prepared using the state template and addresses the elements required under the Maryland Land Use Article, specifically section 1-207(c). Andrich noted the report covers calendar-year activity — not the county’s fiscal year — and includes updates on permits, priority funding areas and comprehensive water and sewer plan amendments.
Andrich told commissioners the report does not provide an extended recap of the county capital-improvement plan or the educational facilities master plan because state law does not require those items in the annual report. “This is for the calendar year,” she said, explaining why some rezoning actions approved in the county would appear in next year’s report.
Commissioners praised the document and staff. Andrich specifically thanked Courtney Jenkins and the long-range planning team for preparing the report. The motion to approve the report was moved by Patty Robrecht and seconded by Lynn Delahaye. The commission voted unanimously to approve the 2024 annual report for transmittal to the Maryland Department of Planning.
