Alpharetta approves underground easement for EV charging infrastructure at Public Safety headquarters

The Alpharetta City Council unanimously approved an underground easement and construction agreement June 23 to allow Georgia Power to install electrical infrastructure for future vehicle chargers at the city’s Public Safety Headquarters.
City staff said the easement only permits the utility work required to install charging infrastructure; a separate procurement for the chargers themselves will come before council at a later date. The easement is one of two steps staff said are required to enable the city’s planned deployment of electric vehicles and charging stations at the property.
“This will be the easement that will allow the charging facility to be installed at the front of the Public Safety Building,” the staff speaker said, and added that Georgia Power would perform the work. Council approved the easement by unanimous vote after a motion by Mayor Pro Tem Markel and a second by Councilman Brady.
No public comments were offered on the item at the meeting.
