Andrew, a county staff member, told the board the competitive grant could provide up to $660,000 to rehabilitate eligible homes for low‑ and moderate‑income residents. The county has surveyed the West Laramie neighborhood in the Williams District to identify a target area and, if it can secure the necessary number of completed surveys, plans to apply to rehabilitate up to 11 homes in unincorporated Peoria County in the 61605 ZIP code.
Eligible improvements listed in the presentation include roofing, plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, and accessibility modifications. The resolution authorizes Britney, identified in the meeting as the county’s senior planner, to execute grant documents and conduct required public hearings on behalf of the county.
Andrew said the county previously received similar grants in 2010, 2011 and 2013 totaling roughly $1 million and helping an estimated 15 to 20 homes; he said Britney joined the team in April, which has allowed staff to pursue more grant opportunities. The board voted unanimously to approve the resolution.
