Warner said Enterprise’s program leverages the state’s QPA procurement to offer vehicles with higher resale value and lower cents-per-mile costs, and that the city recovered about $16,000 from the 2014 F-150 that was totaled; that amount was returned to the water operating fund.
Warner described the crash: a driver pulled in front of him while he was returning from work near a Walmart entrance, and three vehicles were totaled. “It was an exciting Friday afternoon,” he said. He told the board he preferred the lease option and that Nate Berg supplied three vendor options tailored to the department’s needs. The written quote listed a purchase price of $49,200 for the Silverado; an additional quote for a strobe package from Meyer Truck Equipment was presented to the board.
A motion to approve the lease of the Chevrolet Silverado and the strobe package was made and seconded; the board voted in favor and the motion was approved. The board did not specify additional conditions or amendments on the lease; the approved arrangement is a monthly lease through Enterprise Fleet Management.
Meeting remarks noted the insurance recovery for the totaled 2014 F-150 but did not specify lease-term length, monthly payment amounts, or whether the department will later convert the lease to purchase. The board adjourned following the vote.
